Medication compliance as a digital user experience

For many populations with chronic diseases, consistently complying with diet, exercise, or medication regimes is a challenge.  Last spring, my students took a look at some diet and exercise apps evaluating the ease/burden of use into everyday life and discussed how some apps (like the manual diet loggers) were too time consuming to imagine using for more than a few days or a week.  Other apps instead leveraged technology by allowing you to scan barcodes on prepackaged food items to get nutrition label information or recommendations for similar, but healthier, options.  Based on this Colbert Report, perhaps Proteus has come up with a well-intentioned (albeit slightly crazy) medication compliance tracker.  In very least, enjoy a laugh on your Friday morning.
